Mudroom Organization {and a Giveaway}

With five kids and a dog, organization is always a priority in my house.  That doesn’t mean it IS always organized, just that I would prefer it that way {smile}.  My mudroom {which is really just one wall of cubbies in our laundry room} needed a bit more organization in order to simplify our life and help it run smoothly.

DIY mudroom organization

The basket I was using for dog items was blocking part of our family command center plus it contained a glass container holding dog food and I knew that was an accident waiting to happen.  The tags I had used to mark cubby baskets had also fallen off over time and I wanted to add something permanent to mark the cubbies.

I used stencils to add a quick spray painted monogram to each cubby basket …

… and bought some enamel canisters from West Elm to organize the dog items.  The containers are airtight, unbreakable, and I love the bright orange accent in our green apple laundry room.

I used my cutting machine to add cute black vinyl labels to each container …

… so the kids would know exactly where to find the dog food and other items.  {That’ll make chore time easier!}

These simple organizational touches have made the mudroom area look so much better and they’ve simplified my life.

    Your mudroom looks great, Randi! I wish we had a separate room in my home that we could use as a mudroom. I have a mudroom area, but it’s right off our living room by the front door. I am going to have to find ways to glam it up!

    LOVE those canisters! I need to do something similar…we’re always losing track of the dog bags, or my husband takes them to work in his coat pocket accidentally…we just need a dedicated place to keep them. I’m jealous of your mud room cubbies, too!

    I love this mudroom! We don’t have one, but we do have an entryway that could use a bit of organization.
