Mini Monogrammed Butter Pats

Oh my goodness, I love these little butter pats.  I saw the idea in a recent issue of Southern Living.  You can order them but I thought it would be fun to DIY the project and make my own mini monogrammed butter pats.  They were so simple to make and I think they’d be adorable at a luncheon for the ladies or at Thanksgiving Dinner. Aren’t they cute?

In addition to the butter, I used a tiny cookie cutter, a metal stamp {the kind used for pressing a monogram into wax on a letter}, and flour.

I sliced the cold butter into 1/4 inch pieces …

… and cut a shape into each one.  {Keeping the butter cold is key if you want it to hold its shape and pop nicely out of the cutter.}

I dipped the metal stamp into flour, tapped it to remove any excess, and pressed it lightly into the butter, wiggling it a bit to get a good monogram.  Don’t press too hard – it’ll just break up the butter!

The result is a cute monogrammed butter pat.

I love them!  I’m planning on making them again with a big D for Thanksgiving Dinner.

    Very cute. But someone who is Celiac (or gluten intolerance) would never know that the butter was contaminated. You would have to know your parties allergies and intolerances before serving these. Now I know to ask if I see cute butter to ask before I eat it!

      I wonder if you the stamp would work if you sprayed it with non stick spray instead of dipping in flour.

      The stamp can probably be found at any stationery store … it’s the type of stamp that you use for stamping wax on a letter. But I would think that any metal/rubber/plastic stamp would work {like one you might find at a craft store}.
