Do you do anything fun for your family for Valentine’s Day?  Plan a nice dinner, set a pretty table, deliver valentines to school?  I always give my kiddos a treat but this year we’re going to celebrate with a pretty tablescape and this melt my heart Valentine’s Day treat as a surprise!  It’s a fun way to decorate the table and provide a little treat all in one!

To make a melt my heart treat, you’ll need silicon letter molds, a small silicon heart mold, white candy melt, and pink or red food coloring.

You can find candy melt at most large grocery stores or craft stores.  Craft stores will have a better selection of colors and flavors if you’re looking for something special.

In a microwave-safe container, melt the candy melt according to package instructions.  I usually put it in the microwave at thirty second intervals, stirring in between.  That seems to melt it well without hardening it.

Once melted, spoon or pour the candy melt into the silicon molds and tap the molds to release any air bubbles.

You may also want to use a knife to scrape off any excess chocolate on the top.

Place the mold in the fridge or freezer to speed up the hardening of the chocolate.  It will usually take about 5-10 minutes in the freezer.

If you’re making this for multiple place settings, continue to repeat these steps until you have all the letters you need.

To prepare the hearts {one for each place setting}, place some candy melt in a dish and color it with the pink or red food coloring.

Spoon the chocolate into the hearts, tap to release air bubbles, and place in the fridge or freezer until hard.

When the letters have hardened completely, pop them gently out of the silicon molds.  Be sure they are fully hardened or they’ll break as you try to release them.
