A Cowboy Room

The infrequent blogging this week has been due to some major redecorating going on upstairs. It’s time for the twins to move from cribs to beds and I decided to finally paint their rooms in the process {I’ve had the paint samples for two years}. I started with Luke’s room and, with the exception of the quilt, it’s complete.  He now has a fun cowboy room.

Last fall, I picked up some cute cowboy embellishments in Canton, including this sweet sign for Luke’s door.

When Elijah got his new loft bed a number of months ago, his old twin bed went to Luke {I love this bed … it’s been in the family since my Dad was a kid}. I painted it last week, distressed it a little, and added a metal star to the headboard. I found some cute, simple cowboy bedding on clearance at Target.

This sweet sign was purchased at a Hobby Lobby half price sale months ago and has been sitting in Luke’s closet since.

Small metal horseshoes sit atop the door and window frame, bringing good luck to my little redhead {and yes, I know I hung them upside down … oops}.

In an effort to save time and money, I kept Luke’s old valance and embellished it with some brown cowboy fringe.

I painted the walls in Spa Blue and Aloe Vera Green … not your typical cowboy colors but I like the bright choices and the colors tie in Luke’s toy baskets and some accessories I don’t want to part with. I glued rope {$1 rope from Target’s Dollar Spot} around the perimeter of the room, separating the two colors.

A metal star was tacked into Luke’s old lamp … a lamp that he’ll one day outgrow but that I can’t part with yet.

Luke’s cowboy quilt {made from vintage-style cowboy prints} is on my sewing table now and will hopefully be finished by the weekend, making the room complete. Next week’s project: Lila and Baby Five’s room.

Love the colors!!!! Wish my boy’s room could look that CLEAN. I think I had better tell you that you aren’t ever supposed to hang horseshoes upside down like that, because then all the luck drains out. I know silly superstitions, but it’s true!

I wanted to Thank You SO much for this post…We are expecting Baby #2 in September and I have been looking for crib bedding and didn’t couldn’t find anything that I liked that wasn’t pastel blue – I just ordered those sheet sets from Target (on sale) and I’m going to make his crib bedding out of those sheets. I love them! I was also going to tell you about the superstition behind the horseshoes…but looks like Linda beat me too it!

    Thanks again! Congrats on #5!

I love the colors of the room! So crisp and clean. And Luke is cracking me up pretending to be asleep. Too funny!

I’m glad to see you can take the girl out of Calgary, but you can’t take the Calgary out of the girl! Love the western theme of Luke’s room!

Every little detail is amazing. I especially love the rope around the room as a chair rail. Cute as can be. And that little cowboy pretending he is sleeping … precious!!
