Leaf Glass Markers and Coasters

I’m loving the tropical trend that’s so big right now and I thought it would be really fun to translate that trend into partyware.  These leaf glass markers and coasters are such a fun way to use natural elements and a little paint to make unique party accessories that are perfect for summer entertaining!

To make leaf glass markers or leaf coasters, you’ll need sturdy leaves {I use canna lily leaves from my garden but any large leaves will work} and a white paint pen.  Really large leaves work well for the coasters but you’ll want a medium sized leaf for the glass markers so it’ll wrap well around a glass.  I use the new leaves on my plants for the glass markers and large, mature leaves for the coasters.

Wash and dry the leaves to rid them of any dirt or residue then, using the white paint pen, write names across the leaves and let them dry completely.

Decorate the large leaves with any patterns you like.  I used simple, small polka dots but stripes or zig zags or any geometric design would look really cute.

Once the glass markers are dry, attach them to a glass with double sided tape or a dab of hot glue.  {If you choose to use hot glue, place the glasses in the freezer when the party is over and, after a few minutes, you’ll be able to pop the glue right off.}

Line a tray with the leaf coasters or set them on an outdoor table under guest’s glasses for a tropical and summery tablescape.

    This is so unbelievably cute! I love the idea of using leaves for coasters! I don’t have any leaves around as I live in an apartment with small-leafed trees outside. But, I’m going to keep my eye out. This is just too cool!
