Did you see yesterday’s fun tutorial for staining wood with koolaid? I promised I’d share the project I was making and here it is: koolaid stained wood gift tags! I love finding a unique way to wrap gifts and these simple tags look so cute on the top of a package. You can make a pile of them at once and keep them in stock for upcoming birthdays … or make a batch in Christmas colors for a rustic way to label gifts that’ll look fantastic under the Christmas tree!
To make these koolaid stained wood gift tags, you’ll need to first cut the tags from scrap wood and stain them with koolaid. {Click on the link for the full tutorial.} Let them dry completely before adding the vinyl or it won’t stick well.
Use your Cricut machine {affiliate link} to cut the “to” and “from” text from vinyl. I chose white vinyl so it would pop against the color of the tags but any coordinating color would look really cute {wouldn’t a metallic vinyl be cute for Christmas tags?}. Choose a font that suits your personality. I love a cute cursive font that looks like hand lettering.
Use transfer paper to apply the vinyl text to the tags and then put them away until you’re ready to use. Simply write in the names with a sharpie or a metallic pen and you have a really cute personalized tag for a gift!
And if you don’t have a cutting machine to make these tags? Grab some letter scrapbooking stickers at your local craft store and spell out the words that way. It’ll be equally cute and creative!
