IKEA Inspired Shelves

Remember the crate bookshelves I added to Luke’s room?
Well, the other day I happened upon the IKEA blog {who knew IKEA had a blog?} and saw very similar shelves that had been painted on the inside.  It instantly went on my to-do list.
I tackled the job yesterday during naptime, thinking it would be super quick.  It wasn’t, and I finally finished today.  The job was a bit finicky, painting the individual boards {which soaked up a lot of paint} but I love the way it looks.  I painted them with Valspar Island Orange.  Luke has a number of orange accents in his room and the crates tie in nicely.

I left the outsides of the crates untouched and I like the contrast of the finished interior with the rustic exterior.

His books are back in place and ready to go and I can cross one more project off the list.
