I turned on the sewing machine this week {for the first time in forever} and whipped up a felt tablet cover for my latest technology: an Intel 2 in 1 ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi {affiliate link}.
Being a blogger and the mom of five kids, I’m often working on the go, typing up blog posts while I sit at soccer practice or answering emails from the waiting room of the dentist’s office.
The ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi, a laptop tablet combination, makes it easy!
I can use the device in its 7.6 mm razor thin tablet form {weighing only 720 grams} …
… with touch screen functionality, which makes it perfect for playing games, reading, or surfing the internet to check out my favorite sites.
The device can also act as a laptop {also super slim at 16.6 mm} with the tablet mounted in the dock. The keyboard makes it easy to type up blog posts, respond to emails, and update my social media.
And the incredible resolution makes the ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi the perfect device for viewing clear, bright, vivid images.
Since I’ll be carrying this lightweight tablet with me all over town, I decided it would be best to sew a slip-on cover to protect it in my bag or purse. Let me show you how simple it is to make a cover.
You’ll need a small piece of wool felt, elastic cording, and a large colorful button {orange is always my first choice}.
To make the felt tablet cover, fold the felt in half with the fold at the bottom and cut the felt to the size of your tablet, adding 1/2 inch on each side and 1/2 an inch on top. Don’t cut the bottom fold.
Cut an additional square of felt, measuring one inch by one inch.
Cut a piece of elastic cord four or five inches long, fold it in half, and stitch it in place, centering it in the middle of the fabric back, stitching one inch below the edge of the fabric.
Place the square of fabric over the elastic loop with the top of the square sitting half an inch below the edge of the tablet cover and centering it in the middle of the cover. Stitch around the edges and across the middle, if desired. I used contrasting thread to add a fun touch.
With the felt folded together {wrong sides together}, stitch a quarter of an inch from the edge on both sides.
Sew a big colorful button on the front …
… and you have a super simple felt tablet cover to protect your favorite device.
Have you checked out the ASUS Transformer Book T100 Chi? What’s your favorite feature?

What a clever idea. Thank you. I do not have an “electronic” Tablet nor a cell phone. I will be is using this idea to make covers for several folders and books. Traveling with my books protected creates peace of mind. Pus the felt cover(s) will hide the zip-lock bags. [smile]
