Healthy Watermelon Slush

A few weeks ago I shared a recipe for a watermelon cooler and today I’m sharing another watermelon drink that has quickly become a favorite.  This one is a healthier alternative to the watermelon cooler and has no added sugar.  Everything in this healthy watermelon slush is natural and it’s such a refreshing treat for summer {I may or may not be drinking them every day}.

If you follow me on periscope {Randi Dukes/@DukesnDuchesses}, I demonstrated this delicious drink a few days ago.  It takes just minutes to mix up in the blender and one blender full will serve 3-6 people, depending on the size of your servings.

To make a healthy watermelon slush, you’ll need half a medium-sized watermelon, 1-2 lemons, and 5-10 fresh mint leaves.

ingredients for healthy watermelon slush

Scoop out chunks of the watermelon and place them in the freezer until the watermelon is partially frozen.  If it freezes completely, thaw it for a bit before blending.

Place the watermelon in the blender, add the juice from one squeezed lemon, and toss in the mint leaves.

Blend until fully mixed.  If the watermelon mixture is thick {the more frozen the watermelon is, the thicker it will be}, add the juice from another lemon.

You can make this drink with thawed watermelon as well.  Just add a handful of ice cubes to make it slushier.

Pour into a mason jar or other glass, add a paper straw {wide straws work well for the thickness}, and garnish as desired.

Enjoy this refreshing treat … and the fact that you can feel good about drinking it!
