Happy Thankstuffing Fabric Sign Made with the Cricut Maker

This Happy Thankstuffing fabric sign was created as part of a sponsored post for Cricut.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  The post contains affiliate links.

This summer I had an amazing opportunity to attend the Cricut Mountain-Make-a-Thon in Salt Lake City where Cricut revealed three new {fabulous!} products including the Cricut Maker!  I’ll be sharing all of the products in the weeks and months ahead but today I’m excited to tell you a bit about the new Cricut Maker and share the Happy Thankstuffing fabric sign I made for Thanksgiving!  Ready to check it out?

When the Cricut Maker was revealed in July, everyone in attendance at the event went wild!  This machine has all the capabilities of the Cricut Explore Air 2 plus some amazing new features, including the ability to handle non-bonded fabric, leather, and balsa wood with precision.  With a new rotary blade and knife blade, this machine can tackle hundreds of materials and take crafting to a whole new level.

The new machine looks quite similar to the other models but is a bit more sleek …

… and can accommodate these tools.

The tool cup has been revamped with a deep space and a shallow space {a minor change but one that I love since my tools were always getting knocked out} and the bottom is made of a soft material so you won’t damage the tips of your tools.

Do you notice something missing?  The Cricut Maker no longer has a dial.  All selections are made through Cricut Design Space when you send your project to the machine to make it.

And do you see that black slot?  It can hold your phone or device so you know exactly where it is when you’re using the app.  There’s even a USB port to charge your device!

I couldn’t wait to experiment with the new rotary blade so I mixed mediums together and made a fabric sign for Thanksgiving, cutting small letters out of cotton so I could see how the blade handled small turns.

I used a pre-made pallet sign and a selection of fabric from my stash.

The rotary blade fits right into the adaptive tool system with the gear on the blade fitting into the gear on the machine.

Changing blades is as easy as it was on the Cricut Explore Air 2.

I created the text in Cricut Design Space using the birthday bash font …

… and then colored the letters so they’d cut on the mats I wanted.

I placed a fabric piece on the Fabric Grip mat …

… and cut!  The letters cut smoothly without any puckering or lifting and it was so quick and easy!

I left a bit of fraying on the edges of the letters because I love a bit of a shabby look …

… and adhered the letters to the pallet with adhesive spray, placing them in a bit of whimsical manner.  I chose bright colors for my sign but it would look equally cute with fall colors or even neutrals.

I think it turned out so cute and I can’t wait to decorate for Thanksgiving!

I also can’t wait to try some more fabric projects, including some of the digital sewing patterns from Simplicity and Riley Blake Designs that are now available on Cricut Design Space!  Can you imagine how great it will be to skip over the tedious pattern cutting and simply do it with the Cricut Maker instead?  I’m super inspired to dust off my sewing machine.

Have you checked out the Cricut Maker?

I’d love to hear what you think!

Hehehe! That is too cute! I love it! I’ve never used a Cricut machine – but I’m intrigued and after seeing this, I think I could easily use one. They are intimidating to me, but I think now I’m convinced!

I would love to have that machine. It is such a creative machine and it is so precise. There are so many ideas that I have but I could use this machine for! This is really cute by the way.

I’ve never used a Cricut machine. I thought about getting one then thought about all the things my daughters would do with it and decided against it, there’s a limit to how many things can be personalized.

I love that the new Cricut can handle non-bonded fabric. That really opens up a whole new world of crafts.

I’d really like to get the maker but, had upgraded to the one below it just before this one came out. Which is a bummer. I love the fabric cutting features. Do all the fabrics fray? Or just the fabric you used for the project? Thanks for sharing at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Pinned & sharing.

I have a Cricut too! I bought so much stuff for it and never used it. I found it so hard to use! I need to practice some more.

My stepmom loves using her Cricut machine. She makes so many things with it. I just love your sign. I’ll have to show her this.
