My garage is always the spot in our house that really needs an organizational overhaul.  I work on a lot of DIY projects in the garage which means I have a growing stash of wood, a growing pile of power tools, and a growing disaster!  This week I tackled the garage organization and came up with a new system for storing some of the tools: the Rubbermaid FastTrack!

garage organization

Prior to this week, the sander and drill have been laying on a shelf next to the toolboxes.  The handsaws were all the way across the garage and the level was in another place altogether.  Detangling cords and tracking down the right tools has made my DIY projects more time-consuming and frustrating.  I really needed a simple solution.

bad organization

The Rubbermaid FastTrack is just that!  This all-in-one garage organization system {found at Target} seemed like a perfect, quick solution to my problem.

The Rubbermaid FastTrack hangs on the wall and has various hooks that can hold a variety of items {and you can buy more hooks to add on to the system as well}.

I couldn’t wait to get it hung!  The blank wall right above my miter saw was the perfect, convenient spot.

Following the directions that came with the Rubbermaid FastTrack, I used my stud finder to mark the wall studs.  In order to hold the maximum weight, the FastTrack has to screw into three studs.

finding studs

Once I had the FastTrack level, I marked all of the holes onto my wall.  That way, I could figure out which ones I wanted to use and all the other pen marks will be covered over anyway.  The system includes screws for screwing into three studs plus screws and anchors for two other locations along the FastTrack.

screw placement

I drilled pilot holes as suggested and installed the anchors into four of the holes …

… then screwed the base into place and slid the cover over top.  So quick to install and so easy!

I attached the hooks {they simply pop onto the track} …

… then hung the handsaws, levels, and my sander and drill.  And then I just sat back and admired my new system!  I love having these tools all in one place, being able to see exactly what’s there, and not having to unravel them from each other before I can use them!  Garage organization success!

rubbermaid fasttrack systemI’m planning to install a few other Rubbermaid FastTrack systems in the garage this summer and really conquer the mess out there!

From May 18-24, 2014, the Rubbermaid FastTrack system is on sale at Target for $28.89 {regular $33.99} so go grab a few now!  What will you hang on your Rubbermaid FastTrack?

We totally need this in our garage! Right now we have pegboard that’s a disaster- and still not enough room!

I LOVE this! My garage sounds a lot like yours and I’m always brainstorming ways to get things organized. This would be awesome to have on my wall!
