A Front Door Makeover

This front door makeover is a sponsored post for Modern Masters, Inc.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

For years, I’ve loved contrasting front doors.  In different houses, we’ve had a red door, a blue door, a golden yellow door, and a black door and I love the way a painted door draws the eye, adds some character to the neighborhood, and gives visitors the first taste of your decorating style.  This week I added a new color to our front door list with a bright front door makeover.

In this house, our front door has been black since the week we moved in {when, before I had even unpacked a box, I quickly painted it to cover over the unattractive pale puce color}.  I liked the sophistication of the dark door but I had started thinking a bright color might be fun again.

Modern Masters Front Door Paint was the perfect choice.  I was sold on the fact that the paint dries quickly.  In the middle of a hot Texas summer, I can’t afford to have my front door open all day!  I also love the fact that Modern Masters Front Door Paint won’t fade and will cover in two coats, drying to a satin finish.

The hardest part of the makeover was deciding on a color!  Modern Masters Front Door Paint is available in 24 colors based on the Emotional Color Wheel, ensuring there’s a color that’s the perfect expression for everyone!  I wavered back and forth, trying to figure out how bold I wanted to be but when my husband assured me that he didn’t care what I chose, I went for Fortunate, a vivid apple green!  And when the paint arrived, I knew I had made the perfect choice.

Before painting, I scrubbed down my door {where does all that grime and grease come from?} and taped off the windows.

And then I got to painting!  And you know what?  Modern Masters Front Door Paint was even better than I expected it to be.  The paint went on smoothly with great coverage, it covered my black door completely with two coats, it dried super fast {within one hour, the door was dry and could be closed}, and the color is perfect!

My front door looks bright and fun and gives you a taste of the color you’ll find when you step inside.  Don’t you love it?  I think my back door now needs a touch of Fortunate as well!

We’ve been thinking of doing the front door, so I will have to check it out and see if I can find it here. Does it paint metal and plastic (the window edges) too?

Looks fantastic! Love the color you chose. I have paint samples taped to my door right now trying to decide. Hoping one will jump out and say choose me.

Did you prep your door, besides washing? Any primer? Looks fabulous!

No prep at all. This paint doesn’t require any primer and has fabulous coverage … I was so impressed with how well it covered.
