Dog Biscuits For Furry Friends

Every year I make homemade dog biscuits for our four-legged friends and family and today was the day to bake this year’s batch. These delicious dog bones and fire hydrants will be packaged up for all my favorite canines in the family {and a couple in the neighborhood}.  They’re always a huge hit and I look forward to gifting them each year!

simple dog biscuit recipe

I like to use different recipes all the time and I’ve made a variety of different flavors.  After all, I’m sure even dogs appreciate a bit of variety in their treats {wink}.

dog biscuits

This dog biscuit recipe is really simple, requiring only a handful of common ingredients that you likely already have in the pantry for your human cooking.  {Scroll down in this post for a printable recipe card.}

Simple Dog Biscuit Recipe

1 cup all purpose flour

2 cups whole wheat flour

2 cups boiling water

4 bouillon cubes

3 tablespoons vegetable oil {I used peanut oil for a little added flavor}

1 teaspoon baking powder

{As with any recipe for your pet, check with your vet before introducing any food into your pet’s diet.}

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl.

Roll the dough out 1/4″ thick on floured surface {you may have to knead extra flour into the dough at this point to prevent it from sticking too much}.

Cut the rolled dough with cookie cutters in desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for half an hour. Let set overnight then store in an airtight container or package up in bags for your favorite pups.

      They’ll last for at least a month in an airtight container. I’ve had them last longer since they don’t have anything that will really spoil. Be sure to cook them so they’re hard and not soft.
