Filled Balloon Party Favors

My twins turned nine today {I won’t even get started on how insanely fast these nine years have gone!} and next week we’re celebrating with a super fun party.  I’ve been pondering different ideas for party favors and, since the party is inspired by color, I decided it would be really fun to fill bright-colored balloons with a few trinkets.  These filled balloon party favors will be a cute take-home for the guests … and everyone can have fun popping them after the party fun is over!

To make these party favors, I started with large balloons.  Be sure to use large party balloons, not cheap small balloons.  The party balloons are made from a much thicker plastic and can handle holding trinkets much better.

Buy an assortment of small goodies.  Keep in mind that they need to be able to fit through the opening of the balloon and there’s only so far that balloon will stretch!  Candy sticks, pixie sticks, bubble gum balls, glow sticks, and small containers of bubbles all work well {but the bubbles are about as big as you want to go}.

Insert each item into the balloon.  Thin items will slide right in but bubbles and gum balls will obviously be a bit trickier.  You may need another person to stretch the opening while you place the bigger contents inside.

Blow the balloon up …

… and tie it just as you normally would.

Give each child a balloon at the end of the party.  They’ll be so curious about the contents when they hear them rattling around inside but I’ll be encouraging partygoers to wait until they get home before they pop them.

My twins love this party favor idea and can’t wait to hand them out to their friends.  After all, who doesn’t love a balloon?  And when it’s filled with goodies, it’s even better!

I think this is SUCH a great idea! I pinned it the other day when I first saw it because I think it would be so fun to do at one of my daughter’s parties. 🙂

We did this for my 6 year old’s circus party. Cannot agree more with the advice to buy the strongest balloons yuo can. I was able to stretch the balloon opening over a canning funnel, which made the filling easier. Glow sticks were a fav among her crew.
