Easy Arm Knit Blanket

This easy arm knit blanket was created as part of a sponsored post for OtterBed.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My oldest daughter recently got a little update in her bedroom.  We threw away her extremely old mattress, replaced it with an OtterBed luxury mattress, topped it with new bedding, and added an easy arm knit blanket.  The fresh look and the new patterns are just perfect and my daughter is loving her cozy new sleeping spot!

This quick bedroom refresh started with the new mattress.  The OtterBed arrived on our doorstep all rolled up in a box.  All we had to do was carry the box up the stairs, making it all so simple.  No trips to the store, no tying and lugging of mattresses, and no inconvenience whatsoever.

We pulled the roll from the box, carefully removed the plastic using the little cutter that was included in the box …

… and unrolled the mattress.  It immediately fluffed up to just the right size.  The top is so soft that we all fought over who got to lie on it first!

The OtterBed has individually wrapped coils, providing comfortable support and motion isolation.  The mattress also has two inches of a cooling micro cell foam called MicroPur™ that disperses heat and moisture as you move.  And the mattress cover is made up of materials including finely processed bamboo that’s super soft, wicks away moisture, disperses heat, and has anti-microbial properties.

My girl will be sleeping so much better on this amazing mattress!

And the mattress is even more perfect when it’s topped by a DIY easy arm knit blanket!  Don’t you just love the look of these bulky knits?  And even if you haven’t ever knit before, arm knitting is super easy.

To make this arm knit blanket, you’ll need bulky yarn and quite a bit of it.  I really like the large balls of yarn that are sold at local craft stores specifically for this purpose.  With 84 or so yards on each ball, you only need two to make this blanket.  Since they go on sale regularly, it’s actually a really economical project.

I won’t give you a full tutorial for casting on and knitting because there are piles of great tutorials and youtube videos that you can refer to.

To knit this blanket, cast on 20 stitches and knit through both large balls of yarn, joining the ends with a knot in between balls.  Cast off loosely at the end, secure any loose ends, and enjoy your cozy throw!  It’s so perfect for these chilly winter days!

I’m so pleased with this new mattress and the beautiful new throw that’s topping it.  My only worry now is that my teen daughter will never get out of bed {wink}!

Randi, this throw is awesome! I don’t knit, but since you said it was super easy to make, I really want to try to make my own! And it would make such a perfect gift for anyone! 🙂

I wish I lived close so you could show me how to and to get the yarn. Right now we have is Michael’s and they aren’t carrying the big yarn here. JoAnn’s didn’t have any either. I am kind drawn to it, but I really don’t need another blanket. Got two for Christmas a Mermaid blanket and a throw my mil picked up for me. I love the idea of hand knitting.
