I love the popularity that Galentine’s Day has gained over the last few years because who doesn’t want to celebrate their besties?  A Cricut machine makes this Galentine’s Day gift idea so quick and easy that you can whip one up for all your favorite gal pals this Valentine’s Day!

I’m single but I have amazing friends in my life and I think Leslie Knope {of Parks and Recreation fame} was on to something when she suggested a Galentine’s Day celebration.

Whether you’re single or not, we’ve probably all got besties that have stuck by us in thick and thin … and that deserves to be celebrated!

Supplies Needed for Galentine’s Day Candle Gift Idea

To make a really simple Galentine’s Day gift, grab some cute candles in all shapes and sizes and use the file I created to personalize them.  Keep reading to see the instructions and the file link below.

In addition to the candles, to make these gifts you’ll also need white cardstock, pens in your choice of colors, shimmer vinyl in shades that coordinate with the candles {I used red, pink, and fuchsia}, strong grip transfer tape, a green standard grip cutting mat, weeding tools, a scraper, and tulle or ribbon.

Since this project requires only a regular fine point blade, I used my Cricut Explore Air 2 to cut the cardstock and vinyl.  The Cricut Maker would also work great.

How to Make Galentine’s Day Candle Gifts

Click over to the Galentine’s Day gift idea design in Cricut Design Space and click customize to make it.  {Be sure you have a Cricut Access subscription so you can use all of the images without paying an additional fee.}

Before you send the file to your Cricut machine, alter the size of the images to fit the candles you bought.

You’ll also need to remember to change the settings to adjust to the cardstock or shimmer vinyl as you’re creating the project.

Galentine’s Day Gift Tags

Use a Cricut pen in a fun coordinating color along with white cardstock to create the tags.  Writing with a Cricut machine is one of my favorite things because you get such great consistency every time while still having that personal touch.

Make sure the smaller the tag is, the finer point pen you use.  A thick point will be harder to read on a tiny tag and the text will lose its definition.

The file will use the pens to write the message and then it’ll cut them out, with the hole, as well.

If you don’t plan to tie the tag on with ribbon, simply delete the circle before sending the file to the machine.

Once the tags are cut {that Leslie Knope poetic noble land mermaid quote is my favorite}, use tulle or ribbon to attach the gift tags to the candle.

Sized appropriately, the tags work perfectly with small votive candles as well.

But, of course, you’re not limited to candles.  These cute tags could be attached to candy, a bottle of wine, or any favorite Galentine’s Day gift.

Galentine’s Day Vinyl Embellished Candle Gift Idea

If you want something a little more permanent than a tag, the file in Cricut Design Space also has designs to personalize candles with vinyl.

I used shimmer vinyl for a fun sparkly touch {because who can resist glitter?} but regular vinyl would also be super cute and the Cricut Explore Air 2 cuts both perfectly.

Simply size the images to fit the candles you’re gifting.  You won’t want the text to wrap around the candle too much or it’ll look a bit funny on the curve.  A little bit of curve works, especially with the Birthday Bash font I used on this file, because it’s already a bit wonky and whimsical.

If you’ve got a girlfriend who won’t be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a love, this half price candy candle gift is a fun tongue-in-cheek idea … because who doesn’t love to hit up the discounted candy aisle the day after a holiday?

Cut the image you want and use transfer tape to apply it to the candle.

If you’re using shimmer vinyl, you’ll need to transfer it with strong grip transfer tape rather than regular transfer tape.  If that isn’t something you normally keep in your stash, don’t worry … the rolls of shimmer vinyl actually have a sheet of strong grip transfer tape tucked inside!

Adhere the images to the side of the candle then slowly peel back the transfer tape to leave the vinyl behind.
