Snapchat is such a popular social media platform right now and this DIY snapchat costume is the perfect idea for that quick costume party, a teen or tween, or anyone who loves the platform. And the best part? It’s super simple to make!
To make your own snapchat costume icon, you’ll need a large piece of foam board {if you can find yellow, that’s ideal}, bright yellow spray paint or poster board, duct tape, and a snapchat ghost template. You can easily find one of these online.
Start by spray painting the foam board yellow or using spray adhesive to attach the yellow poster paper to the top of the foam board.
I pasted the snapchat logo into a word document and enlarged it to 8.5×11 paper size. This made it too big to fit on one page but half of it fit just right. I printed out two copies, turned one upside down, pieced them together, and taped them into place on the poster board. Tape the template with something that can be easily removed and won’t rip the poster board. Washi tape works well.
Using a craft knife, score around the edges of the ghost, then remove the template and cut along the scored line again, cutting right through the foam board all the way around.
Pop the ghost shape out of the center …
… and use pieces of duct tape to add handles to the back of the board, one on each side of the ghost.
This snapchat costume is as simple as that! Hold the board in front of your face, smile or make silly faces, and you’ll have a costume that looks just like a snapchat profile!
