An Upcycled Robot Halloween Costume

Yesterday I shared little Tate’s flower pot costume and today I can’t wait to share Luke’s upcycled robot Halloween costume {as seen in 2015 on the national daytime show, FABLife!}.  This costume is so simple to make and one that the kids can help with for a fun family project.

Luke had such a hard time deciding what he should be this year but we finally settled on a robot.  I love this costume because I didn’t spend a cent on it!  I made it entirely from things we had around the house.  That’s the best kind of costume, isn’t it?

It would be better if he had pulled his dryer vent robot legs up a bit higher {smile} but he looked pretty darn cute.  And he won first place for his age group at our neighborhood festival!

I made the costume with two different sizes of cardboard boxes {salvaged from the recycling box} covered in metallic silver duct tape and I embellished the boxes with various things I dug up in my garage.  You can really use anything to create the front of the robot costume, using your imagination and things you have to make your robot costume unique.

The dials and buttons were simple but fun … and piles of kids at the festival turned the light switch on and off.  Over and over.  And over.

Grab leftover home improvement items you have lying around and print a few things on the computer to make the robot.

This upcycled robot costume was so simple but I really loved the fact that I made the entire thing for free.  Not bad for something he’ll only wear twice.

You have a lot of great ideas for upcycle costumes. It’s actually a great way to go because you do save so much money on Halloween costumes! I think I’m going to do around my house and see what I can find to make our own costume.

What a cool costume! Love that it’s from items you’d have around home. The bowl for the dial is a great idea.
