bacon wrapped dates recipe

Bacon wrapped dates are not only quick and easy to make but they’re the perfect appetizer to accompany a holiday cocktail!  You can prepare them in advance and pop them in the oven right before guests arrive so they’re warm and crisp when you set them on the table.

To make them, you’ll need a package of pitted dates, a package of bacon, cayenne pepper, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and 1/4 cup brown sugar.

ingredients for bacon wrapped dates

Cut the bacon strips in half and sprinkle them all with cayenne pepper.  The cayenne pepper adds a very slight bit of spice that cuts the sweetness of the other ingredients.

Wrap a bacon piece around each date and place each bacon wrapped date side by side in a greased baking dish.  Drizzle the maple syrup over top and sprinkle with brown sugar.

I had these at a work party once and they were fabulous–maybe not the exact recipe–but something similar. I’m definitely going to make these for Thanksgiving. I’ve been looking for an easy, delicious appetizer. My motto for holiday celebrations and everyday life these days is “keep it simple.” This recipe fits the bill perfectly. Thanks, Randi.
