Are you ready for Christmas parties and all the entertaining that comes with the holidays? If all that fuss gets you a bit stressed out, you’re in the right place! I’m sharing a delicious recipe for bacon wrapped dates as part of a Holiday Happy Hour with nine other bloggers! We’re each featuring a cocktail or recipe that’s perfect for holiday entertaining! Once you’ve read {and pinned} this sweet and savory appetizer, be sure to make the rounds and see what everyone else is bringing to the party!
Bacon wrapped dates are not only quick and easy to make but they’re the perfect appetizer to accompany a holiday cocktail! You can prepare them in advance and pop them in the oven right before guests arrive so they’re warm and crisp when you set them on the table.
To make them, you’ll need a package of pitted dates, a package of bacon, cayenne pepper, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and 1/4 cup brown sugar.
Cut the bacon strips in half and sprinkle them all with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper adds a very slight bit of spice that cuts the sweetness of the other ingredients.
Wrap a bacon piece around each date and place each bacon wrapped date side by side in a greased baking dish. Drizzle the maple syrup over top and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. Let them sit for a few minutes before serving …
… then pour the cocktails or a glass of wine {toss in a few frozen cranberries for a festive touch} …
… and enjoy happy hour!

You had me at bacon. Those look so good!
I had these at a work party once and they were fabulous–maybe not the exact recipe–but something similar. I’m definitely going to make these for Thanksgiving. I’ve been looking for an easy, delicious appetizer. My motto for holiday celebrations and everyday life these days is “keep it simple.” This recipe fits the bill perfectly. Thanks, Randi.
Oh WOW!! These look so yummy Randi!! Love anything with bacon and brown sugar! 🙂 Thanks for the recipe!
