Today’s project is one that evolved out of a conversation on facebook yesterday and I couldn’t resist copying the idea for my family. My friend, Amy, shared a site that has daily advent readings for children out of The Jesus Storybook Bible. {If you haven’t read this children’s Bible before, run and get one now. It’s the best children’s Bible storybook I’ve ever read. The stories make me cry almost every time I read them because it’s just so beautifully written.} Amy and her little guy had taken the daily readings and made a chain out of them. Isn’t that a great idea? I had to make one for my little guys too!
A Craft to Encourage Daily Advent Readings for Children
To make this advent reading chain, I cut pieces of coordinating scrapbook paper into wide strips …
… wrote the story titles {from the plan linked above} on the back of each piece, twisted them into a circle, and and sealed them with washi tape.
Using hot glue, I attached the links to a metal star I found in the garage {you can’t even imagine all the stuff you can find in my garage!} …
… and on December 1st the kids will start taking one link off every day and we’ll read the story together.
I’m already so excited about this new tradition of advent readings and I can’t wait to share it with my kiddos on Saturday!
Do you have any advent traditions? I’d love to hear about them!
