A Vintage Ladder Towel Rack

If you read this blog regularly, you’ll know that I love a good dumpster diving treasure.  My chairs, the vintage wagon, and the dollhouse shelf are all favorite finds.  So when Kennedy came home this weekend and let me know that a vintage ladder was in a neighbor’s trash, I hopped in the car {dragging my Dad along for good measure} and went to check it out, hoping it would work as a vintage ladder towel rack by my pool.

A couple of years ago, I spent a girl’s weekend at a lake house.  Towels were hung on an old ladder set by the pool and I loved the look of it.  I’ve looked for a ladder like it at Canton but never found something I really liked at the right price.

Enter dumpster diving.

This old ladder was perfect!  Already distressed and weathered {my favorite condition}, round rungs, and nice and wide.  I couldn’t have asked for something more perfect.

One rung was broken but I decided it added to the character and chose not to fix it.

I set the ladder in the garden out by the pool and it looks just like I pictured in my mind.  When the canna lilies grow tall and flower, it’ll be perfect all nestled in among them, holding towels for swimming kids.

And not just holding towels, but holding towels in true vintage style.

What’s your best dumpster diving find?

Oh my gosh, that ladder is so PERFECT! I love the rustic look. People leave some awesome stuff in the alley behind our apartment and I drag my husband out “treasure hunting” every once in a while 🙂
