Trash to Treasure

Back in October, I was driving Kennedy to a birthday party when we passed a daycare and caught a glimpse of furniture in the dumpster.  Hoping for a little trash to treasure score, we circled around and Kennedy went dumpster diving {with a bit of encouragement from me} and retrieved two little IKEA chairs.  The seats had come off and the chairs were in need of a bit of repair but I thought they were worth rescuing.

Trash to treasure

After a few screws and a little Gorilla Glue to fix the seats and the back rests, a few coats of brown spray paint, and some vinyl numbers made with my cutting machine, the chairs are as good as new.  They’ll make great TV-watching chairs for the little ones.  And you can’t beat that free price tag.
Trash to treasure
I’m so pleased with my Kennedy’s first dumpster diving experience {wink}.  I’ll be keeping my eye on all dumpsters during future drives.

Fabulous makeover!!! Love the numbers. I can’t believe they would toss those chairs instead of Freecycling them or even donating. Oh well. Their loss is your gain. Great job!! You should link this up to next month’s “Crafty Cutter” party on my blog. It’s a spot to highlight Silhouette/Cricut projects, tips, tricks, etc. 🙂

Thanks so much for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party. 🙂 Have fun finding some new blog friends, and I hope you’ll come visit Serenity Now again soon. 🙂

Love them! I’m redoing a chair right now that I found at Habit for Humanity for $5.

Silly question probably but how is the Silhouette different from a Cricut etc? I don’t have anything like this but looks so cool!
