A Very Hungry Caterpillar Hair Clip

I made Tate a caterpillar clip to wear to her Very Hungry Caterpillar playdate this week.  I was inspired by this, but changed it a bit to fit our theme.

I love projects like this.  It took less than ten minutes to make and I used supplies that I already had.  Cheap and cute.

I cut a leaf shape from green felt …

… then used a hole punch to mark holes in my fabric.  The hole punch cut partway through and I cut the remaining fibers with scissors.

For the head of the caterpillar, I cut a small strip of red ribbon, about two inches long …

… then rolled it up, gluing with a glue gun as I went.

I repeated those steps with green ribbon and glued them all onto the felt leaf.

The little antennae were made from a thin strip of black ribbon.  I just glued it down in a v-shape and held it till the glue was dry.

I glued the whole deal onto an alligator clip and that was it.  A perfect little accessory for the playdate.

Randi, that is so adorable. I love the rolled ribbon and the ‘chewed up’ leaf. Very sweet!
