A Simple Rustic Baby Shower

This week I hosted a very simple rustic baby shower for a friend who just added baby number six to the family {that deserves a shower, right?}.  I kept the decor very neutral and simple but used lots of burlap and added a few sweet touches and little pops of blue to celebrate this little baby boy.

Behind the food table, I hung a very subtle banner made from a piece of burlap ribbon, book pages, and clothespins.

I placed punched-out dollar store letters over the book pages, then spray painted the pages white.  When I removed the letters, a subtle baby name was left behind.  The look was so simple but really cute … and I always love an upcycled craft.

I layered wrinkled, shabby fabric on the table … a white cloth, a burlap tablecloth, and pale blue and white nursery rhyme toile with shabby, torn edges.

The square, disposable plates also had a toile nursery rhyme motif {the plates were bought at Hobby Lobby forever ago}.  I love the traditional look of toile and these plates were just too cute to pass up.

I tied burlap ribbon onto everything I could, including mason jars full of cutlery …

… and the bottom of the punch bowl.  The burlap added some texture and dimension to the decor and carried the rustic theme through other elements.

Drinks were served in mason jars and I placed a big wire basket of them next to the beverages.

We kept the food very simple, serving chips and dip, fruit and vegetable trays, a pasta salad, and cupcakes.

The beverage station included a water bar {you can see the water bar details here} and the most delicious coffee punch.

I loved hosting this simple baby shower and loading my friend’s freezer full of meals {in lieu of gifts, we asked each guest to bring a freezer meal, a really practical idea for someone who already has all the baby gear they need}.

There’s nothing better to celebrate than new life and I always love a simple party!
