A Red and Turquoise Pool Party

Kennedy had a few friends over for a start-of-summer pool party yesterday.  I set up a simple snack and beverage station in red and turquoise.  I love those colors together and they’re perfect colors for a pool party … the table looked great against the color of the water.

The new blue floral duct tape was a huge inspiration for the party.  With the hibiscus flowers, it just screams summer.

I made a duct tape banner for the front of the table …

… and hung red and white beach balls from the umbrella over the table.

I served two flavors of Italian soda {red, of course} and wrapped them in duct tape.

The water bottles got duct tape labels as well.  Duct tape is one of my favorite things to wrap around water bottles because, unlike a paper label, it repels the water and stays intact.  With all the great prints available in duct tape, you can match any party theme.

I also added pieces of duct tape to the cups and set a Sharpie nearby.  The girls wrote their names on the duct tape labels to avoid cup swapping.

I served watermelon skewers and strawberries {red!} …

… and polka dot bags filled with snack mix.  My Coke crate made yet another appearance at a party … I love this thing!

Turquoise plates and red napkins were held down with rocks {a little natural element I use at a lot of outdoor parties} …

… and licorice “pool noodles” …

… and minty “life savers” were served in containers embellished with paper and duct tape.  The paper was cut on one edge with a paper punch.

The girls swam and talked and laughed and had good girl time.  It was a great kick-off to summer!
