Earlier this month, I shared a quick DIY project to help organize the shoes in our front closet and today I want to share other DIY ideas for closet organization that were shared by some of the other bloggers in February’s build to organize challenge!  I don’t know about you but I can always use ideas for adding organization, especially when it comes to my kids’ closets.  These ideas have a variety of skill level but whether you tackle a big project or a small one, they’ll all help organize those trouble spots in your home!

7 DIY ideas for closet organization

There are amazing closet organization systems available but building your own can sometimes be more customizable and maybe more cost efficient.   This DIY closet organization system is off the charts!  With built-in shelving and extra hanging rods, this would be an incredible way to organize the closet in a child’s room.

I store much of my jewelry in my closet and I love the idea of making a DIY necklace hanger to hold the longer pieces.  This project is really simple but looks really attractive and is the perfect way to keep necklaces from getting tangled up.

Shoes can be a mess so I built DIY shoe shelves for a closet.  I made these ones for my front closet but they’d work just as well in a bedroom closet.  Building shelves is a great way to use some of that empty space in the lower part of the closet.

A little customization with shelves and rods makes a big difference and these DIY closet shelves are the perfect update for this dual closet.  How gorgeous are the wood planked walls?  They really take this makeover to the next level.

A DIY closet organizer can really be customized to fit any space and here’s another amazing example of that.  You have to see the before photos because this transformation is incredible!  I love the way they used the corner space and added molding to really finish it.  And drawers in a closet are so handy!

Who doesn’t love Anthro?  This Anthropologie style jewelry organizer is another great DIY for storing earrings.  I love the idea of combining two types of rings on a DIY shelf like this and using it to store both earrings and necklaces together.

Closets have so much wasted space and this is an easy way to organize wasted closet space and make it more useful.  Simple DIY shelves make such a difference and I’m all about using the space you have and making your home fit your needs.
