3 Ways to Embellish a Drink Bucket

Coupons.com provided me with compensation for this post.  All opinions are mine.

Are you gearing up for the big game? Today I’m sharing 3 ways to embellish a drink bucket so your sodas will be served in style on game day!  And this is just the beginning of game day inspiration.  I’ve teamed up with Coupons.com and 12 other creative bloggers to share game day party ideas and to give one lucky reader a $200 e-gift card! And the best part? You have a huge selection of options to choose from for your winnings!

But first, my game day project: 3 ways to embellish a drink bucket.

3 ways to embellish a drink bucket

It’s fine to serve your drinks in a big bucket but even better if you can coordinate that bucket to match your decor.  Each of these ideas can be personalized to fit your color scheme.

1. A Ribbon Embellished Drink Bucket

This idea requires a galvanized bucket of any size {I bought mine at Home Depot}, a drill with a large bit, a measuring tape, and ribbon. For a fun look, match the ribbon with your party theme or find ribbon that represents your favorite sports team!

Decide where you want your line of ribbon {at the top of the bucket or around the middle}.  Just remember that the lower you place the holes, the less ice you can place in your bucket without leaking.  Measure around the outside of the bucket and mark your drilling holes at even increments.  I marked holes every two inches, leaving a bit of a gap where I knew I would tie the ribbon.  Be sure to mark an EVEN number of holes.  Once the holes are all marked, don your protective eyewear, and drill through the bucket at each marking.  You should have no difficulty drilling through the galvanized metal.

Once all the holes are drilled, you’ll have an even row of holes around the bucket.

Thread the ribbon through …

… and tie it in a knot or bow at the front of the bucket.  The ribbon can easily be changed to suit any occasion.

2. A Vinyl Embellished Drink Bucket

Adding a fun word to a drink bucket takes it from ordinary to fun in just minutes.  I used red vinyl and my Silhouette machine to cut the word “cheers” and applied it to the center of a medium-sized galvanized bucket.  The vinyl can be easily removed if you want something different for another party.

This same idea could be done with a freezer paper stencil and paint although it would obviously be permanent.

3. A Chalkboard Paint Embellished Drink Bucket

Adding a swipe or two of chalkboard paint to a bucket is a fun way to personalize for a party.

Once the paint dries, season the painted space by rubbing the side of chalk along it and wiping it off, then add your temporary message.

These three simple ideas will all add some color and character to your party table!

And right now Coupons.com has so many Super Bowl sales going on that you can easily get prepped for your own celebration.

What a great idea to decorate the galvanized bins with blackboard paint! We have used it in the bedrooms – our older children love it.
