A Horse Pillow

My niece is a horse lover {you may remember when I made her this shirt}.  I’ve been at a complete loss about what to get her for Christmas and decided to go the homemade gift route.  I made her a horse pillow for her room {which is why the horse is blue}.

I made the horse with a template I found online and Ink Effects fabric transfer ink {you can see more about Ink Effects in another post I wrote} …

… and sewed the patch onto another piece of fabric.  I like shabby edges so I left the fabric edges raw.  They’ll unravel a bit with some wear but not too much since I used a craft and bond type product under the patch.

I used blue polka dot fabric for the back of the pillow and sewed it envelope style so the cover can be taken off if needed.

I also added a pom pom trim {very Pottery Barn-ish, right?}.

I hope she’ll like it.  At any rate, I can cross one more gift off the list.

The ink used for this project was provided by DecoArt for this post … now I’m just enjoying using the leftovers.

Love your pillow, Randi! My daughter is horse crazy too and her room is all horses. It’s a great gift idea for your niece. My mother is law is getting my daughter all horsey things for her room this year too. It’s easy for everyone!
