My wood slice napkin rings were a big hit at Thanksgiving Dinner and I thought it would be fun to look at some other crafts made from wood slices.  Did you know you can even buy wood slices at Michael’s right now?

napkin ring made from branch

Grab an old branch or trim a tree {or hit up the craft store} and make one of these fun projects!

15 ways to use wood slices

Make a tiered tray with wood slices and candlesticks.

Enhance your decor with a rustic chalkboard.

Drill small holes and embroider an image onto the wood.

Make a dessert tray {with fabulous wood burned text}.

Attach wood slices together for a beautiful winter wreath.

Leave the slices a bit thicker {and use a smaller branch} to make a log wreath.

Or hollow out a large wood slice to make a modern Christmas wreath.

Paint the wood slices to make some fun and modern-looking coasters.

Glue wood slices in the shape of a Christmas tree onto a chalkboard for rustic holiday decor.

Add wood slices to a vase to make a rustic vessel for flowers.

Let the kids turn a wood slice into a snowman ornament for the Christmas tree.

Or add a simple embellishment for a rustic ornament.

Make a monogrammed key chain for a personalized Christmas gift.

Drill a couple of holes to make original buttons for a big thick sweater.

Have I inspired you to go log-hunting?  I know my mind is racing with ideas!

I have some beautiful pecan wood slices. What would you suggest I do too preserve then without changing the rustic look of them? I don’t want them shiny.

What about trying a matte mod podge? It would give you a slight sheen but definitely wouldn’t be shiny.
