Paper Punched Vase

If you love to give flowers to friends and neighbors, or display flowers cut from your garden, this simple paper punched vase paper craft is just the thing to take an ordinary vase {or even a mason jar} up a notch!  Since it uses supplies you likely already have at home, it makes a sweet and affordable gift idea.

paper punched vase

To make a paper punched vase, you’ll need a leftover vase, cup, or mason jar, plain white paper or thin colored or patterned cardstock, a paper cutter or ruler and rotary cutter, and a decorative paper punch.  An edge cutter makes this project really easy but any paper punch will work.

Cut strips of paper about an inch in width or a bit wider if you’re using a punch with a wider pattern.  You’ll want to be able to punch on the strip and still have a plain area left.

Using a paper punch or edge cutter, punch the design all along one side of the paper strips.

Starting at the bottom of the vase, attach the strips in rows, using a dab of hot glue, glue dots, or double sided tape.  Overlap each strip over the last until the strips cover the entire vase.

If the strips aren’t long enough to wrap all the way around the vase or jar, simply attach another strip where the other one ended and continue wrapping.

The result is a really cute vase that sure beats an ordinary glass one!

Add a simple bouquet or some flowers cut from the garden {my canna lilies are in full bloom and I couldn’t resist cutting a few to bring inside}.  This simple idea would make a great teacher or neighbor gift, wouldn’t it?  Who doesn’t love a sweet bouquet of flowers?

Your vase is quite charming and unique. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this, made with a paper punch. It’s delicate and feminine.
