How to Make a Duct Tape Watch Band

Luke has a neat Lego watch but the strap is constantly falling apart or falling off his wrist so we decided to replace it with a colorful duct tape watch band.

I used this colorful graffiti-style Duck Brand Duck Tape because I thought it would coordinate well with the watch face.

I started with this …

… and tore two strips of duct tape, both slightly smaller in width than the watch band openings on the side of the watch face.

I placed them, sticky sides together, onto slightly wider strips …

… then folded the side edges over.

I fed each duct tape piece through the watch face and onto itself, then used some black duct tape to hold it together.  Using E6000, I glued heavy-duty velcro onto the ends of the strap {measure the width of the wrist first and cut the straps accordingly}…

… and clamped it with my makeshift bulldog clamp until the glue had set.

The watch is easy for Luke to take on and off and it looks really cute and colorful.

Is there anything you can’t make with duct tape?

Duck Brand Duct Tape sent me the tape used in this project but they did not ask for a review and all opinions and thoughts are my own.
