Winter Wonderland Food Gift {Healthy Snack Recipes}

I created this popcorn food gift as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®.

Every Christmas we give a little gift to our neighbors, the mailman, and the paper boy.  We’ve even run cups of hot cocoa out to the garbage men as they’re driving down the street.  Food gifts are always well-received, and with all the sugar-laden goodies this time of year, healthy snack recipes are popular.  This winter wonderland food gift is a fun and memorable little treat.

I made a stop at Target earlier this week to grab a few things for this project.  If you follow me on instagram, you’ll know I had no trouble filling up my cart {wink}.

To make this cute little winter wonderland you’ll need: Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn, Slim Jim jerky, and Swiss Miss hot chocolate.

Right now, you can find great coupons on the Target site for all of those products.  You can save $3 when you buy four 6-packs of Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn, save $1 when you buy five Slim Jim giant twin packs {they even have fun Christmas packaging right now}, and save $1 off four Swiss Miss packages {8 count or larger}.

supplies needed for food gift #shop

 To make the Christmas trees for the winter wonderland, fold a Slim Jim jerky in half {leave it in the package}, and bind it together along the bottom inch or so using washi tape.

 Take strips of wired yarn or ribbon and twist them around the Slim Jim, leaving the ends sticking out on either side.  Continue adding strips until the Slim Jim is completely covered above the washi tape and then trim the ends of the yarn/ribbon so that the tree is angled on the sides.

 With a dab of hot glue, add a red star {made with a paper punch} to the top.

 To make the snowman, pop a bag of Orville Redenbacher’s gourmet popcorn, pour it into a bowl and sprinkle it with one package of Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix.  Toss with a spoon until the popcorn is completely covered.  Hot cocoa-flavored popcorn is so delicious … feel free to sneak a few pieces!

Place a scoop into a clear bag, cinch it with floral or craft wire, add another scoop of popcorn, and seal the top with more wire.

Use a Sharpie to draw facial features and buttons, add a ribbon scarf, and use a tiny plastic dish or cup for a hat {swish some black paint inside the hat to make it look more like a top hat}.

 Fill a container with fiberfill or faux snow and set your little scene in the midst of it.

 You have an adorable winter wonderland food gift that’s sure to please your friends and neighbors!
