Vintage Needlework

My orange walls are sporting some vintage needlework this week.  Vintage needlework with lots of sentimental meaning for me.

My mom came across these old needlework pieces in her garage and she knew I’d love them.

And I do.

I remember these pieces well.  They hung in my grandparents’ formal living room, above a large old chair.

I can remember sitting in that room on special holidays and seeing these little stitched people framed on the wall.

Even more special to me?  My great-grandmother, who hand stitched these for my grandma, wrote a note on the back.  It’s probably the only thing I have with my great-grandmother’s writing.

I gave the frames a bit of a paint update, spray painting them antique white …

… and rubbing them with a dark stain to give them an aged look.

They’re hanging in my orange hallway along with some other pieces that I love.  I like to think my great-grandmother would be pleased to see her needlework hung in my home all these years later.

Do you have any family treasures in your home?
