After we had the downstairs painted and after I finished painting the study, the house seemed a bit plain. I absolutely love the Latte color but Phil felt like it was all very blah. We decided that we just need to add some color to the decor. Most of the color will come from accents – fun frames, bright toss cushions – but this week I added a little splash to the walls as well.
When the professionals came in last month, we deliberately left the hallway unpainted. The ceiling is low and it’s an easy paint job so I had decided to save the money and do it myself at a later date. But rather than continue with Sherwin Williams Latte, we decided to go bright. I painted a few swatches on the wall last weekend and Sherwin Williams Tigereye won out.
I was slightly nervous as it was going on {does paint ever look good after only one coat?} but I absolutely love it now. It’s fun and cheerful … and you know I adore orange.
Despite the significant contrast in colors, the orange hallway looks great when viewed from the Latte family room …
… as well as from the Belgian Waffle kitchen {Belgian Waffle by Valspar … glaze by Ralph Lauren}.
It even looks great with my cross collection.
I love it.
And I’m already pondering the next pop of color.
I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!

I really love the color – actually all of them. I’m in the process of slowly painting everything Grand Stand Tan but plan on keeping a few rooms bright and colorful 🙂

I really, really love it! The orange (for anybody but you) is an unexpected color, but it looks amazing — particularly with all the neutral. Can’t wait to see it in person…

It looks fantastic!! I actually have an orange accent wall in my house too. It doesn’t really go anymore, but I’m not in a big hurry to paint it. 🙂
