Updated Dining Room Light Fixture

This dining room light fixture was provided by Lamps Plus.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Yesterday I shared my dining room table makeover and today I wanted to tell you about the update I made to the fixture in this room.  A fixture can really determine the purpose and functionality of a space and I love the warmth and light from this new piece!

Because this room was actually meant to be used as a family room, when I bought the house it had a large fixture with a light and a fan.  I actually love the look of it {and a fan in Texas is a must} but not sitting above a dining room table.  It’s going to have a new home in the study where it’ll look far more appropriate.

When I decided to repurpose the rooms in the house and turn the space off the kitchen into a dining and gathering room, I knew I wanted a large light to hang over the dining room table, providing light for eating but also helping create a focal point in the room.

I love simple and I’m always drawn to fixtures that are somewhat rustic looking.  When I saw the Augusta chandelier on the Lamps Plus website, it caught my eye immediately.  The appearance of the faux candles, the length {this chandelier is about four feet long}, the simplicity of the structure, and the warmth of the light grabbed me.  It reminded me of another fixture I’d seen on another website but it was about half the price!  We took a family vote and this fixture won hands down.  It was definitely tough to narrow it down at first though!  Lamps Plus has so many elegant chandeliers for the home!

My Dad helped me install it just in time to enjoy it during Thanksgiving dinner …

… and today I plan to install a dimmer switch so I can control the lighting and mood even more.

I’m loving the understated elegance of this light and understated works well in this room where there’s already a lot of bold color and pattern going on.

We spend so much time at this table, whether we’re entertaining or just hanging out, and this chandelier has really helped finish the space.  I can’t wait to share the entire room … once I figure out what I’m hanging on all those bare walls!

I can see now why my husband does not want to change the charm of our older house and put up a ceiling fan in our living room. You have shown me how to enhance a room with a great light fixture.
