Upcycled Toothbrush Holder

This upcycled toothbrush holder was created as part of a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of International Delight. The opinions and text are all mine.

It’s National Coffee Month and I’m doing my part to consume enough coffee to make America proud {smile}. Since I love to drink a cup of coffee sweetened with International Delight coffee creamer {Sweet Cream is my favorite flavor}, I toss a lot of empty bottles in the recycling box every week. This week, I decided to repurpose one of those bottles into an upcycled toothbrush holder for Luke’s bathroom cabinet.

To make an upcycled toothbrush holder, wash out an empty International Delight coffee creamer bottle and throw the lid away.  Be sure you wash it really well to get rid of any sticky residue.

Cut the shape you see below. I cut along one of the lines that goes around the bottle, then cut the back tab out of the flat part of the bottle. You may need a craft knife to make the first cut {be careful not to cut your fingers!} and then you can do the rest of the trimming with regular scissors.

The next step is to spray paint the plastic. Spray paint ONLY the outside of the holder. If you spray paint the inside, like I did {oops}, the transfer paper will peel back paint when you apply the vinyl. Spray painting only the outside works perfectly because the color shows right through the plastic.

Using vinyl and a cutting machine {or stickers or a plain ol’ Sharpie}, add a phrase or your child’s name, then use a nail or tack to attach the toothbrush holder to the inside of a bathroom cabinet door.

The bathroom products are out of sight, you’ve recycled a bottle, and the kids won’t be losing their toothbrushes … a win-win, wouldn’t you say? {And if you’d rather not attach it to the inside of a cabinet, you can always use it to corral items on the countertop as well.}

Enjoy National Coffee Month and then let me know how you’re upcycling your International Delight creamer bottles!

    Awesome way to conveniently store your toothbrush and tooth paste, I’ll definitely have to use this in my home.
