I think I’m more delighted than my kids are that summer break is here. We plan to spend plenty of time by the pool, a bit of time on the beach, and my personal plan includes lots of summer reading … or summer listening, in my case. And this upcycled earbud container will be in my bag all summer!
An upcycled earbud container is a great way to keep wires from getting tangled and broken in a bag and prevent earbuds from getting lost.
To make one, you’ll need a travel soap container {you can find these at your local grocery or dollar store} and some vinyl to personalize the container. I’m thinking of making one of these for each member of the family so everyone stops “borrowing” my earbuds!
Using a cutting machine {or tracing a stencil}, cut out vinyl in the shape or design you want and apply it to the top of the soap container.
I added a headphone cutout and my initials to personalize this container.
Snap the earbuds inside the soap box and you’re ready for easy listening no matter where you are!
This summer, instead of reading at the beach or pool {I hate the glare of the pages in the sunshine}, I’ll be popping in my earbuds, closing my eyes, and listening to my favorite books through Audible!

I’m making a list of what I’ll be reading this summer, beginning with Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult {she’s one of my favorite authors!} and including the Hunger Games trilogy {I want to hear them all again}, Chestnut Street by Maeve Binchy, and Summer’s Child by Diane Chamberlain.
And I’ll be downloading books for the kids too to make our summer road trip fly by and let them get lost in a world of imagination. Listening to books is the perfect answer for my little one who can’t do a thing in the car without getting carsick.
