When I have a few extra moments, I love to pop into one of our local thrift stores and take a quick peek. I love that every day is different in a thrift store: one day you might find nothing and the next day you’ll find a treasure. During a recent trip to the thrift store, I found an interesting piece that has now become a thrifted cloche.
I have no idea what this piece was originally. It may have been a cloche {although it was missing a top} or it may have been a long, narrow globe on a light. Either way, I couldn’t resist bringing it home.
The long narrow lines combined with the the metal edging made this such a fun piece and I knew it would make a pretty cloche.
I bought a fancy decorative drawer knob …
… and used a hacksaw to remove the long screw {I didn’t want the screw protruding into the cloche and obscuring the view of whatever I place inside}.
I could have glued the knob onto the glass using E6000 but I opted to just let the knob rest on top so that I can change the look any time I decide to.
I filled a salt shaker with some colorful blooms and placed it inside my thrifted cloche.
It adds a colorful touch of spring to my mantel and can be changed seasonally. Not bad for a thrifted piece of glass!
Love it!
