The Next Project

Since the day we’ve moved in, I’ve held great disdain for the window treatment in the master bathroom. Two scraps of faded floral fabric crookedly hung on a painted wooden rod with a missing finial (and hung below the upper edge of the window).
The next project
I’ve had plans to take it down but left it up until I had a plan in place. The window is frosted and doesn’t technically need a window covering but I wanted the warmth and color that a window treatment would add.
A number of months ago (a year, perhaps), I was inspired by a bathroom layout in a Pottery Barn catalog. The bathroom was decorated in shades of orange, light blue and navy. I loved the combination and decided to change the color palette in my master bathroom to orange and light blue. After all, getting ready every day in an orange bathroom (my favorite color!) would start every day just right, wouldn’t it?
After much looking, I finally found an Amy Butler fabric in the appropriate colors. The fabric was purchased, as were the towels (on clearance), and then it all sat … on my sewing table, in drawers, wherever.
The next project
Months ago, I saw a Martha idea for a button-up shade and decided that was a perfect (and simple) solution for my window. I found some contrasting fabric for the back side and sewed the shade this week. I installed it this morning (with my pregnant self standing precariously on the edge of the bathtub, drill in hand … my mom would not be pleased) and I can cross one more project off the list.

Ooo, I love it!! Do you have a link for the shade specs? I need some coordinating window treatments across three windows. I was thinking I’d try my hand at Roman shades, but this looks so mush easier.
