Shades of Pink

After much tribulation, Lila and Baby Five’s room is almost complete. I need a few wall items but since I’m still really unsure what I want to hang, I’m going to wait. The room is a girly paradise … shades of pink, doll beds filled with friends, and a table set for tea parties. I hope my girls will have lots of fun in this room and create special memories.
I painted the walls (Cotton Candy Pink) a number of weeks ago and although it’s very pink, I love it. I kept the original valance since it ties in well with the crib bedding.

Finding Lila’s bed was a task (feel free to skip the next paragraph if you don’t want the boring details). I wanted something with character, preferably white wood (although I would’ve painted it if I had to), for a great price. Amanda set the bar high with her seven dollar bed. I hit numerous garage sales, hordes of shops, and finally found this adorable vintage bed at Alston’s Old Home Place (a great Canton-style shop for those in the area). Finding a reasonably-priced mattress was my next task … I think I’m just cheap but I can’t bear paying a small fortune for a mattress. After more research, I found a no-middle-man warehouse and brought home a mattress (strapped tightly to the roof of my Tahoe). When I went to assemble the bed, the rails on my vintage bed were slightly too wide and the box spring fell to the floor. One more trip for some mattress slats and we’re finally in business.

The chenille bedspread was given to me a few years ago and put away for Lila’s big girl bed. I love it. It has one small tear that needs mending (that’s a job for another day) but is otherwise in great shape. It even has someone’s name printed onto the wrong side of one corner. I love thinking about who that person was and where they were taking their bedspread that required labelling.

A little table for tea sits in the middle of the room …

Baby Five’s crib is all set up with Lila’s hand-me-down Amy Coe bedding. The baby likely won’t sleep here for some time but I need everything in place. Elijah would tell you it’s my OCD acting up.
Shades of pink
Most of the decorative accents were already in the room prior to this little makeover.
Shades of pink
One more project to cross off the Nesting List.

Randi – so sweet! The bedspread is charming. What’s the pink box on the table? It looks so cute – does she keep things inside?

I love old chenille bedspreads. Yours is beautiful…so colorful! I think I’ll have to go baby girl shopping during my 3 night stay in Paris now that I know pink is the oclor of choice!
