The Messenger Bag

I’m a total messenger bag kind of girl.  I think it has something to do with having my hands free to corral children and not worrying about a purse strap falling off my shoulder.

What I’m not is a pattern making kind of girl.  After sewing many messenger bags over the years, I decided I’d throw together my own {very simple} little bag.

The result?  A disproportionate, too skinny, too-long-handled, messenger bag.

I thought the strap was going to be too short so I added a center section cut from the lining fabric {because I ran out of outer fabric} …

… and then I added a Silhouette-cut flower that really doesn’t seem to coordinate and is too small for the bag.  Hmmm.

At least the inner pocket actually fits my cell phone.  And the bag is orange.  In my world, you can’t really lose with orange.

Since I hate to waste, I’ll use this bag till it wears out but I don’t think I’m going to love it.

Have you ever had a sewing project that didn’t turn out quite right?

I love the color of it! I give you so much credit for being able to whip that up without a pattern. I couldn’t even do it WITH a pattern! 🙂 Thanks for linking up!

I like it Randi. It looks great.

FYI – ALL of my sewing projects haven’t turned out right, even with a pattern! 🙂
