The Best of 2011

One more peek back at 2011 and then it’s all about 2012.  I decided to join the masses and post my favorite projects of 2011.

In January, I overhauled my fabric stash.  I got rid of everything I won’t use and color coordinated everything I chose to keep then stacked it on a cheap new shelving unit.  Almost a year later, I’m still loving this.  It’s so easy to find the fabric I want and I’m able to use my stash because I always know what’s there.

Early in the year, I recovered our bar stools with burlap coffee sacks.  I wasn’t sure at first but they’ve grown on me and I love them now.  I have a few more coffee sacks I grabbed in Canton and I’m hoping to come up with a great repurpose for them.

These little chairs went from the dumpster to my family room, with a little stop for some fresh paint and a few repairs.  The kids use them every single day and I’m so glad Kennedy rescued them.

I co-hosted a baby shower last year and came up with this rosette wreath for the front door.  The little rosettes are made from rolled up baby socks which the new mom could take off and use after the shower.  Little sock rosettes would also make a super cute baby gift topper.

My cupcake tree made its debut at the same shower.  I still love it and have to use it again in 2012.

Luke’s crate shelves got an IKEA-inspired paint job that took them from plain to awesome.

A cane-backed chair got a simple yellow paint job and an instant update.  It’s amazing what some paint can do.

Phil and I celebrated our anniversary with romantic backyard dining under a mason jar chandelier.  Instant mood setter.

I made a hook board for all those post-swimming wet towels and trunks.  A true sanity saver since we no longer have wet towels all over the laundry room floor.

The make believe picnic basket I made for the SYTYC competition was one of my favorite projects ever.  I had so much fun making it and I still adore those little crocheted cups and saucers.

My downstairs hallways got a very orange, very awesome makeover this year.

Some new Martha-inspired silhouettes went up on those orange walls.

And a final favorite project: Luke’s Lego wall.

I love looking back on all the fun in 2011 and I’m looking forward to lots of creativity in 2012 … my idea list is long!

Great line up!! I too love the lego wall 🙂 Hmmm I think that your orange wall color might look in my house… Do you know what brand/color it is?
