Succulent in a Mason Jar

A week or so ago, a friend of mine was at Market Street and texted me a picture of the cutest succulent in a mason jar being sold in the floral department. I planned right away to copy the idea but then I saw them in person and they were even cuter than I first thought! I was at the store buying succulents the next day!

Start with a mason jar.  This would be adorable with any type of jar: short or tall, squat or thin.

Fill the mason jar with potting soil …

… and plant a succulent so that it sticks out the top.  {Note: add the metal rim of the mason jar lid before you plant the succulent … it adds a touch of rustic which is super cute}.

Tie a strip of burlap or other ribbon around the top of the mason jar …

… and you have a sweet teacher appreciation gift, a warm hostess gift, or a fun way to decorate a table for a dinner party {wouldn’t these make cute place cards?}.
