{Semi} DIY Marquee Letter

Do you love the marquee letter trend as much as I do?  I often scour junk sales for old marquee letters and I’ve thought about DIY’ing my own.  If you have too then you’ll love this {semi} DIY marquee letter.  It doesn’t get much easier!

Last week at Michaels, I was browsing through the store and came across an endcap carrying marquee letter kits from Heidi Swapp.  The kit contains the letter, the lights, and bulb covers … and at 50% off it cost me less than $7.  Total score, right?

I also bought glitter tape {there are accessories that are the perfect width for decorating the letter} and aqua bulb covers.

I wrapped the outside of the letter with the glitter tape.  I won’t lie … getting the tape into the crevices of this letter was a bit tricky and the final result is not entirely perfect.  My wrinkles aren’t overly noticeable though and the overall look is really fun.  If you like it simple, choose an O {smile}.

I inserted the aqua bulb covers into the holes on the letter …

… pushed the lights through the back …

… and that was it!  The lights operate on a small battery pack that fits into the back of the letter.  This {semi} DIY marquee letter is a really fun accessory in my daughter’s room …

… and looks so fun when it’s all lit up!

And it certainly was easier than starting from scratch!

Love it! Super cute. I am so into marquee lights- I need to go back to Michaels and check this out! How are you liking the camera?

It’s my daughter’s camera and she LOVES it. But she’s really into that trendy polaroid thing. 🙂
