Birthday Wishes Cake

Years and years ago, I saw this neat cake idea in a Betty Crocker ad and knew it would be just the thing to celebrate a friend’s birthday.  This birthday wishes cake is a delicious cake loaded up with fun quotes or wishes … making it the perfect way to celebrate a friend on their special day!

To make a birthday wishes cake, bake a regular cake in a favorite flavor or buy one from a store or bakery.  If you’re making your own cake, frost it as you normally would.

I usually take the easy route and use a storebought cake mix and storebought frosting.

Type or write different quotes or birthday wishes on pieces of cardstock {I made these ones on my home printer}, trim them to size, then wrap them completely in plastic wrap so the cake won’t ruin them.

Glue or staple colorful ribbons to the end so there’s something to use to pull the quotes out of the cake.  Use ribbons that coordinate with the party theme, if you have one.

Use a sharp knife to make slits evenly around the frosted cake and slide the plastic wrapped quotes into the cake, leaving the ribbons sticking out.

Serve the cake by slicing between the quotes.  Each guest will get a quote or wish in their cake and everyone can read them aloud at the gathering.

This is such a simple idea {especially if you use a storebought cake} and such a fun way to add a little something extra to a special birthday or occasion!
