The Laundry Room Lost and Found Bucket

With five kids, I find a lot of items in the laundry pile each week:  pennies, quarters, Lego minifigures, and I won’t even mention the odd pen and chapstick that find their way into the wash {groan}.  I pull a number of items from pockets every week and they’ve always ended up in a pile in the laundry room waiting to be claimed … until now.  Now the kids can claim their treasures {or someone else’s, I suppose} in our new laundry room lost and found bucket!

I bought a $2 vintage washboard {a total steal} in Canton on my last trip and I’ve been wanting to repurpose it into a lost and found spot.  Finding the right container for it proved difficult until Pick Your Plum recently featured flat-backed galvanized buckets.  The medium size was perfect for this project.

I added black adhesive vinyl to the galvanized bucket …

… and attached it to the washboard with E6000.  So simple but entirely practical and it’s the perfect vintage touch in my laundry room {and will look fabulous against my apple green walls}.

What a great idea! I’d love to find coins in my dryer. I only seem to get old, shredded kleenex tissues – ugh 🙂
