Inspired by some cute knit water bottle cuffs on etsy, I decided to try knitting a little pig sippy cup holder for Tate. This is a great beginner project and you really can’t go wrong. Add fun details as desired to create a sweet custom cup holder for your little one!
I started with pink scrap yarn for this little pig. This project doesn’t take much yarn at all.
On circular needles, I knit a small cuff, beginning with only a few stitches and increasing to the circumference of the cup, much like you would knit a hat. I didn’t write down specifics as I went but if you can knit, I’m sure you can figure it out as I did.
I added a crocheted circle for the nose, two little black buttons for the eyes …
… and a crocheted curlicue, stitched on at the end, for the tail. I didn’t do any ribbing on the top edge because I like the rolled look. I simply cast off when it got to the height I wanted.
Wouldn’t this make a fun and unique baby gift for a shower? I may have to try knitting a few other animals!
