If you make an effort to reuse and recycle and watch how much you add to the landfills, you’ll love this tutorial for a simple knit dish scrubbie.  These little scrubbies take less than twenty minutes to whip up, could easily be crocheted instead if that’s your bent, and make a super cute housewarming gift when paired with a bottle of your favorite dish soap. {Don’t want to make your own? You can buy hemp scrubbies already made!}

To make a knit dish scrubbie, you’ll need a skein of Red Heart Scrubby yarn and a pair of knitting needles within the suggested gauge range on the label.

Have you seen this yarn before?  My mom’s cousin first introduced me to it and it’s so crazy cool!  The texture is rough and it’s truly the texture needed for scrubbing dishes.  It’s perfect for scrubbies or dishcloths.

Using a double strand {just pull out both ends and knit with them together}, cast on ten stitches.  Knit each row until you have a square.  Depending on your tension, this will probably be about ten to fifteen rows.  Cast off and weave in the loose ends.

For a cute housewarming or hostess gift, attach a colorful scrubbie to a bottle of your favorite dish soap.

These little scrubbies can be thrown in the washing machine and reused over and over.  Whip up a whole pile of them in a rainbow of colors so you always have a clean one within reach.

They’re a great way to cut back on disposables … and super cute too!
