Inspiration for the Kids’ Bathroom Makeover

A few years ago I painted the bathroom sink area adjacent to my little girls’ room but the main part of the bathroom {separated by a door that leads into a toilet, bath, and sink area} has been in dire need of a bathroom makeover for quite some time.  I’m determined to get it done in the next few months and I thought I’d share my inspiration board so you can hold me accountable {wink}.

inspiration board for kids' bathroom makeoverI’m planning a red, white, and blue theme but it won’t be at all Americana, just fresh and clean looking, I hope.

1.  The bathtub is definitely getting a vinyl addition.  I think this little sign is so cute and totally unexpected … and only seen when the shower curtain gets pushed back.

2.  I’ve been wanting blue walls but couldn’t find the perfect shade until I saw Sherwin-Williams Indigo Batik in a Pottery Barn catalog.  I love the color.  Now I just have to decide if I’m going to add a stripe to it.

3.  This stitched shower curtain has always been a favorite and I’d like to do something similar.  I’ve already purchased the shower curtain I’ll use and now I just have to decide if I’m going to add a special number or a letter.

4.  Finding a way to store toothbrushes is always difficult but I love this PVC pipe toothbrush holder {I also featured it in my round-up of organization ideas}.  It’s a simple DIY and hangs inside a cabinet so it’s not taking up countertop space.

5.  I want to find really simple towels in indigo or a deep varsity red and I may go for a rugby stripe like these Pottery Barn towels.  And then if I’m really motivated, I’ll dig out my machine and embroider some names or monograms on them!

6.  The bathroom I’ll be making over has a builder-style mirror and I’d love to add a bold and bright white frame around it.

7.  I’ve always loved this exit sign and I even found one when I was in Canton.  Now I just need to hang it in the bathroom for a touch of thrift store whimsy.

8.  The bathroom has a very old school faucet but I love the idea of adding a little fun by changing the labels on the faucet handles.

The floor, sink, and vanity will all stay the same for now but these simple DIY tasks should transform that space and give it a fun update!

How fun! I’m getting ready to make over one of my daughter’s bathrooms too. 🙂 I love the mirrormate frames, I’m going to use them on our mirror too! Great minds think alike. 🙂

I love that color too!! I think that it would look super awesome doing vertical stripes alternating a matte finish and a high gloss finish… just a thought.

    Love your blog and inspirations!
